The
year
was
1987,
the
place
was
Wilmington,
NC.
It
was
an
afternoon
concert
outside
in
a
park.
We
were
the
opening
act
for
"The
Nitty
Gritty
Dirt
Band".
We
must
have
impressed
Jeff
Hanna
with
our
show
because
he
stopped
the
band
in
the
middle
of
"My
Little
Runaway"
to
sing
our
praises.
He
did,
however,
get
our
name
wrong.
Gregg remembers that Bob Carpenter (the piano player) used his piano. It was a wee bit out of tune so an hour before the show Mr. Carpenter tuned it up, it sounded great! Kevin (Richardson), who provided the tape that the sound byte came from, remembers that Bernie Leadon (formerly of "The Eagles") was with them at this time. Kevin got his guitar signed by him as well as the rest of the band. We all remember how nice the band treated us but the road crew were a bit pissy. After the show they were loading their truck with reckless abandon, throwing cases and whining, especially the drum roadie. John remembers that the World Series was going on at the time, they wanted to get back on the bus and watch it. That's why they were in such a hurry.
